The only verified safety defect is a loose 48-volt ground cable located under the front passenger seat, part of a March 2024 recall covering 2019–2024 GLE and GLS models. For the GLS-Class, this affects the X167 generation built from 2020 through 2024 at the Vance, Alabama plant. If the cable was not properly tightened during assembly, the 48-volt system can generate excessive heat and create a risk of electrical failure or fire. Check the VIN for open recall status and have an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer inspect and tighten the cable at no charge.
