On 2023, 2024, and 2025 CX-50s equipped with Mazda Genuine Accessory trailer hitches, the wiring harness can detach and become damaged, causing trailer lights and brakes to fail. This increases the risk of a crash or trailer separation. Mazda issued recalls for these model years, so the harness repair is covered at no out-of-pocket cost.
Approximately 2,410 2023 CX-50s may have a damaged ABS hydraulic control unit that reduces braking ability. This can increase the risk of a crash. A recall was issued, and the repair is free of charge.
On about 1,000 2025 CX-50s, including hybrid and non-hybrid models, front suspension fastener bolts may not have been tightened properly. This can allow suspension components or wheels to detach, leading to loss of control and a crash. A recall covers the repair at no out-of-pocket cost.
A small number of 2025 CX-50 Hybrids have a gear shifter that can be moved from Neutral to Drive without pressing the brake pedal. This can cause unexpected vehicle movement and increase crash risk. Mazda recalled these vehicles and the repair is free.
Some 2025 CX-50s, including one CX-50 and one CX-50 Hybrid, have incorrectly configured airbag module software that may cause the airbag to deploy improperly. This increases the risk of injury during a crash. A recall was issued and the software repair is free of charge.
